Today Microsoft has released Windows 8 pre-beta version for developers but of course you can also download and install it absolutely free on your very own PC to test and taste the latest operating system from Microsoft. You may have already downloaded and install windows 8 themes or Windows 8 transformation pack like Omnimo but this is real windows 8 with full features and GUI designs. Microsoft is giving away an ISO image so you need to burn it using DVD burner via DVD image burner software.
You can also install Windows 8 pre-beta version via virtual machine rather than installing it on a new partition of your hard drive. You need to download and install virtual machine software like Virtual-box. After that create a new virtual machine and name it some like Windows 8. Now click on Motherboard tab under System and check Enable IO APIC. After that click the Processor tab under System and check Enable PAE/NX. Move on to Acceleration tab under System and check Enable VT-x/AMD-V and Enable Nested Paging. Last but not least click Video tab under Display and check Enable 2D acceleration. Simply mount the downloaded ISO image file and you are ready to go.

Note: The .iso file that contains the developer tools requires a large capacity DVD called a DVD-9, as well as a DVD burner that can handle dual-layer (DL) DVDs. Most modern burners should be able to handle this format but if you have older DVD burner than you should only download and install Windows Developer Preview English, 32-bit (x86) which is 2.8Gb in size.
