Google’s setting new standards for device performance in Android 12

Indeed though Android 12 was technically released last week, it still has yet to make its way to any factual device — at least as a stable figure. That does not mean we can not learn a little further about what Google’s changed behind the scenes, of course. A new comity description document, or CDD, has been released alongside Android 12, granting some sapience into the agreement manufacturers must enter to continue releasing bias.

Unlike other motifs covered under the CDD, performance classes are not a set demand. Rather, each device is certified at a specific position, with performance class 12 presently ranked loftiest. Still, because performance classes are forward-compatible, a device is not needed to move to a new performance class with each upgrade. A specific phone model could meet performance class 12 norms and remain on that position indeed after upgrading to Android 13 coming time.

This time’s performance class is devoted primarily to camera capabilities and media playback, covering motifs like frame drops, garbling quality, and HDR image prisoner. It’s good news for anyone planning to upgrade their phone anytime soon, since some of the conditions are actually enough strict
